Arm reportedly spooling up major new GPU architecture to take on Nvidia-

Arm is working on a new GPU design and has no less a target than Nvidia in its sights. That’s quite the claim, but it’s exactly what Israeli business website Globes is reporting.

Arm is said to be employing a team of up to 100 GPU engineers at its development center in Ra’anana, Israel. But what’s not clear is what kind of graphics architecture they’ve been tasked to build, with the two obvious options being aimed at video rendering or AI training and inferencing.

Arm already has several GPU designs on its shelves, including the Mali and Immortalis series, which are typically offered as IP that chip makers can licence. Arm itself isn’t in the business of making and selling GPUs. That applies to CPUs, too, which are the mainstay of its chip-design licensing business.

However, the Mali and Immortalis series are fairly traditional graphics units that are actually intended to process, well, graphics. That’s a whole different ball game from building a GPU to process AI.

Granted, Nvidia’s AI and gaming GPU architectures are developed in tandem and have shared elements. But there’s a whole world of difference between a $40,000 Nvida AI chip and even its pr…

Small form factor fans could soon have an intriguing new option after pictures of a single slot RTX 4060 Ti emerge-

As a dedicated fan of all things Mini-ITX, I love it when manufacturers think outside the box, or perhaps more appropriately inside it, by shrinking a graphics card this way or that. That’s why I was very pleased to see Colorful is working on a single slot RTX 4060 Ti 16GB card. It’s the only performance gaming graphics card in a single slot form factor that I can remember from the last few years, giving SFF fans an interesting option.

The card was spotted by @Zed_Wang. It measures in at 267 mm x 107 mm x 20 mm. It includes four display outputs made up of three DisplayPorts and one HDMI port. That leaves it just enough area on the rear I/O plate for a cutout to expel hot air.

A single slot RTX 4060 Ti is the kind of card that will appeal to users with truly tiny cases, while delivering the performance of a proper gaming card. Having a 16GB card that can make use of DLSS 3 and frame generation in a NUC sized system is definitely appealing.

It’s interesting that Colorful opted for the RTX 4060 Ti—and the 16GB variant at that, instead of the 115W RTX 4060. The RTX 4060 Ti is built around the AD106 GPU, with 4,532 shader units, a 2,535Mhz boost clock and a 16…

Space Marine 2 extended gameplay trailer showcases huge environments and hordes of enemies, but somehow it’s not as violent as I expected-

With Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 slowly stomping toward release later this year, publisher Focus Entertainment has dropped a new extended gameplay trailer showcasing our Ultramarine hero, Lieutenant Titus, strolling through some mega-gothic ruins and doing battle with a genuinely impressive number of Tyranid enemies.

Those of you who played the original Space Marine may be wondering why Titus is not a captain in the sequel, but a lower-ranked lieutenant instead. There’s probably a lore-based explanation for the demotion—Warhammer 40K has lore for everything—but according to the fan wiki, the change was made to accommodate a conflict with (you guessed it) the lore: Canonically, the Ultramarines 2nd Company was actually commanded by Cato Sicarius, while the events of the first Space Marine game took place in an alternate universe in which the company is commanded by Captain Titus. Along with the lower rank, Titus has also crossed the Rubicon Primaris in Space Marine 2, meaning that he is now a Primaris Space Marine—another change from the first game.

Naturally, the details are up for debate: Some in the 40kLore subreddit think the lead i…
