She-Hulk Director Explains Why Hulked Out Jen Doesn't Look Like Bruce Banner

Now that you’ve seen the first two episodes of She-Hulk: Attorney At Law on Disney+, you’ve become pretty familiar with what Jennifer Walters (Tatiana Maslany) looks like when she hulks out. You might be wondering, though, why her build looks practically nothing like that of a hulked-out Bruce Banner.

To find out the reasoning behind that–and She-Hulk’s design as a whole–GameSpot went directly to the source, director and series executive producer Kat Coiro. According to her, a lot of time was invested in figuring out exactly what She-Hulk would look like and the end result is due to a number of reasons.

“Part of the entire conception of the project is what does she look like? How does she move through the world? And it was really important,” Coiro explained. “We have Hulk, who is a monster–who is not of human proportions. And then we’re doing this show about a modern woman who’s navigating dating and her career and her family. And so we needed to make sure that we kept her at a human scale.”

To that end, the big bulky musculature of Hulk simply wouldn’t have made sense for She-Hulk, especially since her battleground is…

Always-online free-to-play ARPG relaunches with an offline mode, zero microtransactions, and an upfront price- ‘We’re in uncharted territory, and it’s a big risk’-

Developer Airship Syndicate has announced the resurrection of its action RPG Wayfinder, but with a difference: it’s junking all the stuff players hated the first time around. In its previous form Wayfinder was always-online, featured microtransactions, and was free-to-play. Now it’ll have an offline mode, no microtransactions whatsoever, and an upfront price tag of $25 in early access (first spotted by Kotaku).

“We’ve seen a shift in the industry where players are OK paying for a premium title if it means respect for their time and wallets,” says Airship’s president Ryan Stefanelli. “It’s one we prefer ourselves, frankly, and we believe it’ll make the game much easier for people to enjoy.”

That’s particularly the case on PC, of course, where Valve’s pioneering concept of early access has allowed smaller developers to release the core of a game and, should it find an audience, build-out the featureset over time. Early access may mean that some dreck ends up on Steam, sure, but this is way offset by the spectacular lifecycles of games like Dead Cells, Hades, and recently Baldur’s Gate 3.

Getting here has been a bit of a trip for Wayfinder. It …

ASRock tears it up with new 520Hz and 400Hz gaming monitors-

ASRock has announced a pair of new ultra-fast LCD gaming monitors for CES, one hitting 520Hz the other 400Hz.

It’s arguably the latter that’s most intriguing, combining that 400Hz refresh as it does with 1440p resolution via a 27-inch IPS panel. That’s the ASRock Phantom Gaming PG27QFW2A.

The other model is the ASRock Phantom Gaming PG27FFX2A, another 27 incher but this time running at fully 520Hz. Frustratingly, ASRock is providing no further details for now. But as ASRock singles out the PG27QFW2A as offering 1440p resolution, the implication is that the PG27FFX2A is not 1440p and given the 520Hz refresh is therefore likely a 1080p model.

Anyway, pencil us in for that 400Hz 1440p’er, it sounds like a lot of fun. Speaking of which, ASRock also has some OLED gaming fun for CES, too, in the shape of another pair of gaming monitors.

ASRock says the two new gaming models deliver QHD resolution and run at 240Hz and will be their first to offer OLED tech. Known as the Phantom Gaming PGO34QRT2A and Phantom Gaming GO27QFS2A respectively, ASRock has again been very light on the details. But going on the product names, we’re likely looking at a 27-inch 2,560 by 1,…

Roblox clashes with an ‘activist short-seller’ who’s going after its share price with accusations that it’s running a ‘pedophile hellscape’ and lying about user numbers

Hindenburg Research, an investment research firm that “specializes in forensic financial research,” has released an in-depth report on the massive gaming platform Roblox, accusing it of lying to investors in order to spur growth, and more sensationally, that it is a “pedophile hellscape.”

Roblox, not surprisingly, rejected the allegations outright. “Roblox takes any content or behavior on the platform that doesn’t abide by its standards extremely seriously, and Roblox has a robust set of proactive and preventative safety measures designed to catch and prevent malicious or harmful activity on the platform,” it said in a statement.

“The financial claims made by Hindenburg are misleading. The authors are short sellers and have an agenda irrespective of the substance of Roblox’s business model and results.”

The Hindenburg report is remarkably in-depth and goes right for the throat, noting at the start that Roblox hasn’t turned a profit since it went public and thus “is reliant on the growth metrics it presents to Wall Street” to maintain and increase its share price.

Which is problem number one: “Our research indicates that Roblox is lying to investors, reg…
